Scrap metal prices decrease
Prices of metal, scrap metal to be precise have fallen by up to 50% since 2011!
“Dealers say the depressed prices apply to all ferrous metals (with iron content)”.
“The price of steel scrap was Sh42 per kilogramme three years ago. Now steel buyers are offering Sh20 per kilogramme,” said the Kenya Scrap Metal Association (KSMA) chairman, Mr Irshad Sumra.
The EAC (East African Community) back in 2010 stated that they were restricting the export of metal to outside the community so that it would help their own community more by allowing the people who relied on using recycled metal, and also that it could stop vandalism too.
