Tattoo inks have too much?
New Zealand’s MOH (Ministry of Health) has researched and published the results of a survey which was to assess whether tattoo inks being used in the country could be over the limit of what they should have.
“More than 160 tattoo inks were analysed for arsenic, barium, cadmium, cobalt, chromium (VI), copper soluble, mercury, nickel, lead, selenium, antimony, tin and zinc. All samples tested complied with cobalt, selenium and chromium (VI) guideline levels, while compliance with other heavy metals was variable”.
Tattoo inks have also raised concerns in Denmark, Germany and Hungary as well as New Zealand.
